History of the Award

The President's Bottle Award was initiated in the year 2005 by Club President, Cecil Yount, in order to bolster attendance and participation by club members. Following two years of decreased attendance and participation in Club sponsored rides and events, Yount felt that introducing a function throughout the year might generate a renewed committment by club members to Blue Ridge Thunder.

The President's Bottle awards points to members, who choose to participate in club sponsored events. A tracking system assigns points to each member for various activities. The club Secretary is responsible for keeping up with the attendance at each of the scheduled club events. Year-to-date points accumulations are posted on the club website for all members to review as the year progresses.

At the end of year Christmas Party, the President presents to the top 2 points earners an award that is selected by the President. The type of the award varies based upon the financial health of the club at the end of the year.
