The August meeting of Blue Ridge Thunder was held on Tuesday, August 8th. 16 members left from Ghost Town HD under threat of rain but quickly outran the light precipitation and enjoyed a ride on the backroads of Haywood and Buncombe Counties to Tequila's Mexican Restaurant in Candler.
Condolences were expressed to Tony and Wendy Ruff on the recent loss of Tony's step-father and to Dario Diaz on the recent passing of his mother. Don Wallace was welcomed back from his latest successful ride back and forth America with the Kyle Petty Charities Run. Don provided lots of intereseting stories about the trip and a link to images of the run will be posted soon on this website. Don swears that he has a picture of him being hugged by super-model Nicki Taylor, who he reports is a very accomplished rider.
Cecil Yount reported to the group that the recent Christmas in July Poker Run was successful in that a net amount of $443.00 was added to the coffers for the November Toy Run. Nancy Johnson reported to the group that the club current has approximately $943.00 in the bank. Cecil further indicated that he would be contacting last year's committee chairs for the upcoming November Toy Run to see if they are willing to serve in those capacities again. Ron Johnson indicated he would head up the parking efforts again. Hugh Moody and Butch Smathers have already agreed to contact Ingles in Canton regarding their ongoing support of the effort and Dale Walksler has readily invited us to end the parade at the Museum again this year. Other details will be forthcoming.
Following the meeting, we had a nice visit with Gene and Brenda Lummus of Lummus HD as they were entering the restaurant to eat.
